Announcing The Handmaid’s Tale

We are now ten episodes in to our podcast and have officially covered season one of The Bold Type! It has been so much fun to discuss and gush about Jane, Kat, and Sutton but we are ready to move on to something a little different (and a little darker). So the next show we will be covering is…..The Handmaid’s Tale!

Based on the dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood and produced by MGM and Hulu, The Handmaid’s Tale is set in a not-so-distant dystopian future where a Christian terrorist group has taken over the United States. Due to increased infertility, this totalitarian theocracy has forced fertile women, called Handmaids, to bear children for the leaders of Gilead. The story follows one Handmaid, June/Offred, as she tries to survive in this brutal world.

In addition to discussing the differences between the novel and the show, we will be exploring topics such as Roe v. Wade, female genital mutilation (FGM), access (and denial) to abortion and other reproductive health services in the United States, and more. This three-episode arc will air on:

  • Thursday, April 26, 2018
  • Thursday, May 19, 2018
  • Thursday, May 24, 2018

We will also be live tweeting the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale (@teatvpodcast) starting Wednesday, April 25 at 9:00 p.m. CT.

We are so excited to watch and discuss this critically acclaimed tv show with you. You can watch The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu, Amazon, and YouTube. So until next time.

Drink tea and happy binging!
